Tutor profiles
Carolyn Copland
After a successful career teaching in both New Zealand primary schools and early childhood centres Carolyn tutored primary aged students on the Kapiti Coast in maths and literacy.
On moving to Lower Hutt her career took a new direction which resulted in her becoming a qualified counsellor. Holding a BEd, Dip Tchg, and Dip Couns (Applied) she now uses this knowledge to assess students.
With input from parents and school, she plans a tutoring programme which draws on the educational theory of Vygotsky and his emphasis on scaffolding children’s learning.
Having enjoyed raising a family and experiencing the joys of grandchildren she looks forward to working with your child.
Russell Copland
After spending many years teaching in primary schools around the North Island, Russell completed his training as a Secondary teacher. Always interested in maths, he now mainly concentrates on this subject but often lends a hand in other subject areas.
With a BEd and Dip Tchg he is fully conversant with all mathematical topics from preschool to Year 13. Always a stickler for time tables and basic facts, along with a passion for algebra and calculus, Russell’s quiet, calm demeanour will assist your child to achieve the best.
